Guardian of the North

This is the first drawing of what I hope ends up being a small series. There was a Superman cartoon marathon on today, so I drew this while watching that all day. Not a massive Superman fan, but it passed the time. I've always preferred my comic book heroes to be a bit flawed, like the Hulk or Fantastic Four.

Kitsune 2

I did the rough for this drawing back in 2008 to go along with my other kitsune piece and I thought I'd lost it in the depths of my room for eternity. Luckily it has resurfaced once more so all may bask in its foxy glory.

He whispers to the trees

Benghis Khan returns.

myssstic

I think, I too may take to the forest in search of spiritual enlightenment...that or I'll just pop in a DVD and call it a night. I'm undecided.

The Ascetic

The only problem with becoming an ascetic and living in the forest is your complex hygiene goes to hell. I'll bet this character's hair is like split end central.

नंदी II

I had no idea cows were so fun to draw. I threw some more definition into the face this time round and I think it looks better. I'm considering using this head for a larger project sometime in the near future.

A haiku by Ben

What gives you the right?
moving turf and shifting earth

Huzzah! I really like the way this turned out. I got my inspiration for this drawing from Nandi, who is the God Shiva's trusty sidekick. Hinduism is interesting stuff.

Face behind the mask

I found this nice piece of cardboard and decided it would make a lovely mask. There aren't any eyeholes though, so going out for Hallowe'en with it on could bring forth imminent peril.

Bunny and the bull

I'm pretty sure I need to see this film by Paul King. There is nothing quite like watching Julian Barratt suckling the teet of a dog to brighten your day.

Emishi Dance

Artist Monsieur Cabinet has put up a section on his site where he answers any question asked of him. I love participating in retarded things like this, so I couldn't help myself. See if you can find my question in there, and ask him one of your own.

I've become something of an audiobook addict of late. I'm addicted to classic literature! I find I take in information better when I have something read to me, as opposed to me reading it. I've finished three books in the past couple days (unabridged I might add) and I'm currently waiting on more. If you don't see much work from me in the future, it's because I'm listening to some woman with a posh accent read Jane Austen.

Strand

I'm awful when it comes to hands so I just used a 3-D model from the internet. What a cheater I am! I was going to do the sort of hand/claw I generally do, but it just didn't look right.

On a completely unrelated note, I really enjoy this tune by the On Offs. Reminds me of the Jam a bit. Has a certain Mod revival quality to it.

Dad's home

So, I haven't done much drawing in the past month, incase you couldn't tell (the lack of blog posts should have given this away). I was too busy watching True Blood and attending alcohol fueled social gatherings to focus much on my drawing. That being said, I do have a picture of a drawing I did in July, which is part of my "forest Sentry" series. Eeeeeenjoy.

Mr.Fox

Well this is exciting! When I first heard Wes Anderson was doing Fantastic Mr.Fox I was concerned. From the looks of this trailer, it would seem I might have been wrong to be so skeptical. This looks absolutely brilliant and I must see it. I love foxes (in a purely platonic sort of way) and stop motion, so I am sold.

Forest Sentries

I was looking at some pictures of netsuke Buddhas last night and it inspired me to draw these disembodied spirit heads. I'm actually impressed and surprised that they fit so well in those frames. Didn't think I'd ever draw something that would fit nicely. Oval frames why must you be so difficult? Why can't you be more cooperative like your rectangular brethren?

Anyway, the past few days have been quite lackluster, I haven't been feeling well, and I've been telling people (after they've been in close proximity of me) that I have swine flu. I'm hoping this is not the case however, as I would not want to look down on the barnyard community for spreading such things.
